New Domestic Batteries

Battery wise Moonshine has x2 engine starter batteries and x1 domestic battery. We replaced the starter batteries for new ones last winter prior to launching her, however we have recently found the single domestic one to be failing. Therefore, 2 new batteries were ordered and delivered to our home the other day ready for installation.

Now the battery capacity has been doubled this should make our lives easier now that the evenings are drawing in whilst away from shorepower.

  1. Suprised you only had one domestic battery. What capacity was it?

What capacity have you got now?

Seems a big boat for just one!

    1. 125ah,now have 2x 125ah,Hardy were asking a lot with all those down lighters , fridge ,cooler etc from one battery, they probably think everybody operates from shorepower ie on the South Coast marinas not where we cruise.

  2. Blimey that was small. Naughty-Cal originally had one 95ah battery which was pushing it a bit. We upgraded that to 2x105ah which is enough now to give us three days away from shore power without running the engine.

Do you have LED bulbs in the downlighters?

We replaced our halogen with LED ones and they vastly cut down power consumption.

    1. Not yet, that is next pay days project. We require 14 lamps to be fitted in existing but refurbished lamp holders (we did the same on Luro) . We obtain ours from Bedazzled and have found theirs to be very good if not a tad on the expensive side.

  3. We got ours from Ebay. Cheap and cheerful yet they have lasted four years now with no signs of failing or setting on fire!
